Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and highly skilled Biochar Project Development & Compliance Manager to play a key role in developing and implementing biochar projects. The ideal candidate is passionate about environmental projects and CDR solutions, detail-oriented, and focused on achieving measurable results. You will be contributing to the development of impactful biochar projects and responsible for hands-on project execution, ensuring compliance with biochar standards. This position requires a strong background in carbon accountability, environmental projects, and familiarity with biochar-specific standards such as Carbon Standards International (CSI), Verra, and Puro.earth.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance and Documentation
- Prepare detailed Project Design Documents (PDDs) aligned with standards such as Carbon Standards International, Verra, and Puro.earth.
- Develop and maintain Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) plans for ongoing compliance.
- Ensure adherence to certification guidelines and methodologies throughout the project lifecycle
- Stay up-to-date with industry standards and contribute to methodology improvements where applicable.
- Project Execution:
- Implement biochar carbon removal projects, from initial design to operational execution.
- Work closely with local stakeholders, including producers and community partners, to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Conduct on-site trainings, on-site assessments and collect data for project design and reporting.
- Technical Support:
- Conduct carbon accounting, life cycle assessments (LCA), and environmental impact assessments
- Analyse projects data
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work closely with farming organisation, implementing partners, and other stakeholders to build capacity and ensure adherence to sustainable practices.
- Support the team in presenting projects to investors, certification bodies, and buyers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in developing environmental or carbon removal projects.
- Familiarity with biochar production, standards , and certification processes.
- Proven experience in drafting PDDs and MRV plans.
- Proficiency in carbon accounting tools and methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
